Our beginning
We wanted something more human.
Larkwell began with a simple belief: receiving support should never mean giving up your identity.
After caring for their own parents, founders Anne and Michael Hart imagined a smaller residential community where clinical excellence and genuine hospitality could live side by side. They opened Larkwell in 2010 with 24 residences and a team chosen as much for warmth as experience.
Today we have grown to 48 private residences, but our promise has not changed. We learn every resident’s routines, stories, preferences, and ambitions, then shape care around the life they want to keep living.

A certified dementia practitioner, James designs calm routines rooted in ability, history, and connection.
